Commitment to Our Community's Health

This year, Magic Valley Regional Medical Center awarded nearly $150,000 in grants to organizations that support our commitment to improving the health of children, young adults, and adults of South Central Idaho. Magic Valley Regional Medical Center's dedication to its vision, " to be a standard of excellence and cooperation in making this region the healthiest place in America to live," is exemplified through our donations to these organizations.

  • Magic Valley SAFE KIDS Coalition—Unintentional injury is the number-one killer of children in Southern Idaho. Magic Valley SAFE KIDS is committed to reducing and preventing unintentional injuries in children (0 to 18 years). SAFE KIDS serves all eight counties of South Central Idaho, providing educational materials, safety equipment, and assistance to both individuals and groups on injury prevention programs.
  • CARES (Children At Risk Evaluation Services)—CARES helps children who have been physically or sexually abused. This program serves all eight counties of South Central Idaho—taking a community approach to coordinate the efforts of law enforcement, child protection services, and the courts to intervene when children are in danger from abuse.
  • Trauma Nurses Talk Tough—Emergency Room nurses implement this project utilizing a proven curriculum called "Trauma Nurses Talk Tough," which targets elementary students in four different age groups. In 2001, this program reached more than 3,000 students.
  • HealthNet—MVRMC is a regional partner in HealthNet and serves as a co-lead agency for the Twin Falls HealthNet Coalition.
  • Success by 6—Its focus is to prepare children for successful living through early childhood development. The program in year 2002 will be specifically addressing children's immunizations and family support groups.
  • Born to Succeed—a program offered through the Twin Falls County Department of Juvenile Probation. It is a risk-focused delinquency prevention plan for pregnant teens, providing them with the information needed to successfully complete their pregnancies.
  • Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers—a community-based volunteer program providing non-medical, in-home services to disabled, frail elderly, and chronically ill residents of the Magic Valley. Unlike federally funded programs that only serve at-risk, low-income elderly, Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers can provide "neighbor-helping-neighbor" services, regardless of income, age, or frequency of need.
