Your support will help SLMVRMC
continue to provide current
services, while enhancing its
capabilities to care for everyone
from fragile newborns to adults with
heart disease.
No matter the size, your gift is
important and appreciated, and will
help meet local healthcare needs now
and into the future.
Capital Equipment
for enhanced SLMVRMC patient
services and improved healthcare
outcomes...
-
Acute Care
Specialty Beds
These specialty hospital beds
promote greater comfort, as well as
staff and patient safety. Each bed
features built-in scales to weigh
the patient, and mattresses
specially designed to maintain and
promote skin health, thus improving
patient outcomes. Fundraising Need:
$500,000
-
Cardiac
Monitoring Technology
Thanks to a portable cardiac
monitoring system, patients on the
general medical/surgical unit at
SLMVRMC can have their heart status
closely monitored outside the
intensive care unit. Updating the
system with new, state-of-the-art
technology, including alarm
capabilities, will enhance patient
safety. Fundraising Need: $250,000
-
Neonatal
Warmers and Incubators
The
quiet, warm, and comforting
environment provided by neonatal
incubators is vital to the care and
development of ill and premature
infants. These beds allow easy
access to the tiniest patients, and
include built-in scales and
specialized mattresses. Fundraising
Need: $160,000 (8 beds at $20,000)
SLMVRMC is dedicated to the health
and safety of children. These cribs
provide the safety and security
young children need while undergoing
important treatment and therapy.
Fundraising Need: $25,000 (six
cribs)
As
surgical technology continues to
evolve, SLMVRMC is committed to
staying on the cutting edge with
equipment such as SurgASSIST. This
computer-powered surgical stapling
platform provides unique levels of
access, precision, and patient
safety for procedures that require
numerous surgical stapling
applications. Fundraising Need:
$45,000
SLMVRMC has made great strides in
minimally invasive procedures over
the past two years, and is dedicated
to continuing these high-quality
procedures that reduce scarring and
trauma to surrounding tissues and
result in faster, less painful
recovery and shorter hospital stays.
This commitment requires periodic
maintenance and upgrade of SLMVRMC
current Endoscopy towers.
Fundraising Need: $60,000
Endowment
funding the future of our local
healthcare programs...
-
Children At
Risk Evaluation Services (CARES)
Endowment
CARES provides comprehensive
evaluation services in times of
suspected child abuse. The CARES
clinics in Twin Falls and Burley
provide interviews, forensic medical
exams, scholarships, education for
non-offending parents and counseling
referrals. Working with local law
enforcement and child protection
agencies, CARES minimizes trauma to
children and their families and
helps them move toward healing. An
endowment fund ensures that CARES
will be available to our community’s
children for years to come.
Fundraising Need: $500,000
-
Nursing
Continuing Education Endowment
This endowment provides continuing
education grants to SLMVRMC nursing
departments, nursing education, and
to individual nurses seeking to
further patient care skills and
techniques. Fundraising Need:

Breast Cancer
Outcome Improvement
Idaho has the lowest mammography
rate in the US and Health District
V, which includes Magic Valley, and
is tied for the lowest mammography
rate in Idaho. Just 33% of Twin
Falls County women over age 40
received a screening mammogram in
2004, leading to a high rate of
advanced stage breast cancers and
many preventable deaths. Through
this program, uninsured,
underinsured and new patients will
be educated about the lifesaving
importance of early detection and
the resources available to help
obtain screening exams. The ultimate
goal of this critical program is to
increase the Magic Valley’s
screening mammogram rate by 10%
each year, or 900 additional women.
Fundraising need: $103,500.
Over the past three years, SLMVRMC
has provided a free heart screening
service to more than 3,000 Magic
Valley residents. This screening
includes an analysis of multiple
risk factors including personal
history, blood pressure, body fat,
weight, cholesterol and blood sugar.
The screening is culminated by a
counseling session with a registered
nurse who makes recommendations
based on each participant’s results.
Our goal is to continue this service
and expand it to include additional
south central Idaho residents.
Fundraising Need: $50,000
Specialized therapy helps many who
bear the devastating effects of
arthritis. Following therapy, a
continued exercise program is
essential. While an aquatics program
provides an excellent means to
continue the exercise, many people
cannot afford a membership to a
fitness center with a swimming pool.
This program will provide needed
financial assistance so that our
community members with arthritis can
continue the therapy necessary to
achieve reduced pain and a
healthier, more satisfying life.
Fundraising Need: $2,000
Patient Care Services
to offer best practices, advanced
procedures, and a helping hand to
those who are ill or recovering from
injuries...
Palliative care provides pain and
symptom control to patients who have
a serious or complex illness that is
potentially life threatening. This
service supports the ongoing
revaluation of difficult
decision-making, relieves burdens on
care providers, enhances continuity
of care, and improves the overall
quality of life for the patient and
family. This program requires
special equipment and services,
patient and staff education, and
community awareness of palliative
care options. Fundraising need:
$300,000
Air
mattresses, specialty beds, and skin
care products are necessary to
provide optimal skin protection for
long-term or immobilized patients at
SLMVRMC. Fundraising Need:
$40,000
-
Cancer
Patient Emergency Fund
Patients receiving care at St. Luke's MSTI -Twin
Falls sometimes lack the funds to
provide for their most basic needs.
This fund assists in providing
groceries, utilities, vehicle
repairs, and medications when other
community resources are not
immediately accessible or available.
Fundraising Need: $30,000 annually

NEEDS
HEART SERVICES!
When a heart
attack begins, Time is not on your
side...
If you're in
the Magic Valley, the heart services
team at SLMVRMC is ready to help
you.
Are you
ready to help them serve you better?
Since SLMVRMC's
heart catheterization lab opened in
1997, the number of patients served
has exceeded all expectations. In
2004, 939 heart patients visited the
lab for diagnostics and
interventions. Some of these
patients arrived while a heart
attack was in progress!
Use of the cath lab
increases as the Magic Valley
population grows and ages. All
improvements such as the upgrade of
the cath lab must come from the
hospital's net operating margin or
from philanthropy.
Your support of the renovations
at the heart catheterization lab at
St. Luke's Magic Valley Regional
Medical Center is important to our
community. Without the availability
of state-of-the-art cardiac services
at SLMVRMC, Magic Valley patients
would have increased travel time,
increased hospitalization, delayed
treatment, increased costs and less
than optimal outcomes.
The Foundation is the only
non-profit/charitable organization
in the Magic Valley that supports
the needs of the community through
the medical center. In turn, the
SLMVRMC is the only healthcare
facility in the eight-county area of
Magic Valley that provides cardiac
diagnostics and interventions for
heart patients.
Continuous support for today's
technology and equipment to treat
and diagnose patients is needed more
than ever as the cost of new and
better systems increases. Your
support is needed to enable the SLMV
Health Foundation's vision of
continually enhancing the healthcare
of the community, especially for
heart patients.
Your support will help SLMVRMC
continue to provide current
services, while enhancing its
capabilities to care for everyone
from fragile newborns to adults with
heart disease.
No matter the size, your gift is
important and appreciated, and will
help meet local healthcare needs now
and into the future.
Give so we can do more! Give to the
St. Luke's Magic Valley Health
Foundation.
