Adult Weight Management Class 

This 10-week class is taught by Heather Shaw, Registered and Licensed Dietician and certified ADA consultant in weight management.

Prepared Childbirth Course Schedule

A comprehensive program designed to prepare the expectant mother and support you for labor and childbirth. The course includes classroom instruction on wellness of the mother, the labor and delivery process with relaxation and breathing techniques, care of the post partum mother, care of the newborn including breast and bottle feeding, and a tour of the Women’s and Infant Center. Pre-registration is required. Call 737-2901 to register.

It is recommended you complete classes in your 37-38th week. New classes begin every month with one class per week for five weeks. 

Fee: $50.00

Big Kids Klub

This class is designed to help prepare brothers and sisters for the new baby. Children talk about their feelings concerning the new baby’s arrival, tour the maternity unit, and receive a certificate for participating. Call 737-2901 to register.

Class meets one Saturday each month from 10 – 11:30 a.m. 

Fee: $10/family with one child -- $15/family with two or more children

Childbirth Refresher Classes

This class is designed for persons who have previously taken any prepared childbirth classes. Childbirth preparation and procedures are reviewed, along with a tour of the Women’s and Infant Center. Pre-registration is required. Call 737-2901 to register.

Class meets from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. 

Fee: $20.00

Cesarean Childbirth & Refresher Course

This class is available to anyone wishing to learn more about cesarean deliveries. Post partum care instructions, medications, hospital procedures, non-conforming labors, and a tour of the labor and delivery area are included. Call 737-2901 to register.

Class meets from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. 

Fee:
As of January 1, 2006 there will be no fee charged for this class.

The third class of each Childbirth Preparation Program will be available to anyone wishing to learn more about cesarean deliveries. Post-partum care instructions, medications, hospital procedures, non-conforming labors, and a tour of Labor and Delivery will also be covered.

Infant Safety & CPR Classes

Offered as part of the Prepared Childbirth Course, new parents, grandparents, and caregivers are encouraged to attend this class to learn infant CPR and what to do if the infant should choke. Child safety and prevention of injury are also discussed.

Evenings, 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. 

Free, no pre-registration required.

Heartsaver CPR Classes

This class is offered to the community under the guidelines of the American Heart Association and includes emergency procedures for mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, chest compression and choking for adult and infant. The program includes both classroom instruction and hands-on practice. Pre-registration is required. Call 737-2007 to register.

Fee: $25.00

NuParent-A Fun, Playful, Parenting Program  

This program has a unique three-part structure that provides time in each session for a parent and child activity, a knowledge-building exercise and a parent support group. Topics that will be discussed include safety, nurturing, infant development, coping with crying and much more.

Classes are for newborn to 12 months old. 
Parents are encouraged to call, and come in at anytime.

Pre-registration required. Call 737-2092 for the date of the next series. 

Classes are held on Tuesdays,
5:30 to 7:00 pm
Classes run 8 sessions. Call for dates and to register for the next series.

Free Smoking Cessation classes.  Sponsored by South Central District Health.  For more information call 734-5900.

Breast Examinations and Education 

Women' Health and Imaging Services has funding available to provide women's groups with Clinical Breast Examinations and instruction in Breast Self-Exam.  The Susan G. Komen Foundation has provided financial assistance for a qualified nurse to teach your women's group, then complete individual exams if space or facilities allow.  Preference will be given to women's groups in small communities without healthcare providers.  

Call 737-2381 and ask for Lana Hill, RN, Breast Screening Nurse to schedule your group’s instruction.

Free Breast Exams 

Receive a breast examination by a certified nurse specialist, including information on breast self-exam.  This program is offered free to all women (no age limit) through Magic Valley Regional Medical Center Women’s Health & Imaging Services, 224 Martin Street, Twin Falls.  Call 732-3250 for more information or to make an appointment.

Eligibility for Free Mammogram Programs:

·        Women’s Health Check for women ages 50 – 64 years who meet income guidelines.  Call South Central District Health at 737-5900.

·        Senator Mike Crapo Mammogram Fund for women ages 40 – 64 who are not eligible for Women’s Health Check, but still have financial need.  Call Women’s Health & Imaging Services at 732-3250.

·        American Cancer Society Mammogram Grant Funds for women ages 40 – 64 year who are not eligible for either of the above programs.  Call Women’s Health & Imaging Services at 732-3250.

·        Discount Mammogram Certificates:  A limited number of discounted certificates are available for $59.  Certificates are provided by Magic Valley Regional Medical Center, Southern Idaho Radiology, PA, and the Magic Valley Regional Medical Center Foundation Endowments from Curtis T and Wilma H. Eaton, Gordon O. and Joyce E Glasmann, Esther V. Wise, and Virginia Wolter.
